5-Star Recruit Picks Irish over Penn State and Syracuse

In one of the strangest recruiting cycles in recent memory - and that's saying alot - Ishaq Williams, the 29th-ranked high school football player in the country finally committed ... to Notre Dame. Williams was a DE in high school but will play LB in South Bend.

Williams, a US Army All-American, give the Irish some much needed help on the front-7. The Charlie Weis years were good for the offense, but the defense was like a red-headed stepchild. Snagging Manti T'eo from Hawaii last year and now Ishaq this recruiting season, fans in South Bend are dancing a jig.

Still on tap for the Irish ... keeping recruit Stephon Tuitt, a 5-star DL, and securing the services of Aaron Lynch, another nationally ranked defender with special skills.
