Some people call him Maurice, I call him a Putz

“He blew it! He tried to play to his Twitter crowd”

That’s how Skip Bayless described Maurice Jones-Drew’s excuse for ripping Jay Cutler after leaving Sunday’s NFC Title Game. http://es.pn/gHevVK

Bayless goes on to rip Jones-Drew “as the pot calling the kettle a quitter” - #32 opted not to play the last 2 games of the year due to minor injury, as his Jaguars were losing a shot at the playoffs.

Is Jones-Drew 8 years old? Seriously? His excuse was, “but I was just kidding?”
I seriously expect to hear that from a little kid who doesn’t know any better.

I was screaming about this on Monday morning. Say what you like about Jay Cutler, but he’s not a quitter.
So I called-out Jones-Drew, Kirk Morrison, Darnell Dockett, LeCharles Bentley, Lance Moore, Derrick Brooks, Anthony Armstrong and ESPN’s own, Trent Dilfer. (See stupidity in action: http://yhoo.it/fWAMAj)

Almost immediately, Anthony Armstrong tweeted me back, saying he apologized to Cutler.

I got to thinking – I wonder if the other ass-clowns had apologized.

Darnell Dockett is too busy comparing Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo.

Lance Moore’s response, “No need to apologize for what I said last night about cutler. It sux to get hurt, but it looked like there wasn't that sense of urgency out of him to get back in a game of that magnitude. That's why I said it looked like he gave up on his team.” But Lance, you could try, but you couldn’t be more wrong!  You took a cheap shot at a guy – and now you have egg on your face – MAN UP and apologize.

Kirk Morrison tweeted, “If my knee was hurt or ACL/MCL/PCL sprain, I wouldn’t be standing on sideline”
What’s your point, Kirk? You were calling him a liar – questioning whether he was actually hurt, since he was standing. Morrison joined a sports talk show and said, “It was my opinion. I’m not only a player, but a fan and analyst.” What is this The Hair Club for Men? And ultimately he didn’t MAN UP! “I’m being critical of the situation – not Jay Cutler.” LOL – Really? That’s what you’re going with? Really, Kirk?

LeCharles Bentley joined “Mully & Hanley” WSCR 670 The Score in Chicago. Bentley said he didn’t criticize Cutler, but then did it again. “You can question whether a guy is truly in it for the right reasons!” Once again, Mr. Bentley … MAN UP! http://bit.ly/ecLh31 The worst part of this interview was Brian Hanley, who questioned Cutler for going to dinner and “walking up stairs” – are you serious? And Mike Mulligan started out the interview with Bentley saying Cutler looked like someone spilled his juice. Stay classy, San Diego!

The guy I respect most out of this group, Derrick Brooks, tweeted, “"HEY there is no medicine for a guy with no guts and heart" Nice one. I wasn’t able to find anything since Sunday. If you know of any more comments, be sure to leave a link in the comments section below.

And we close with Mr. Dilfer. Why are you even putting in your two cents? Didn’t you learn when you got bitch-slapped by LeBron for ripping Peyton Manning. You truly are the WORST QB to ever win a Super Bowl – and then get replaced the following year by Elvis Grbac. Shut up already! You talk out of both sides of your mouth and really should be quiet. I don’t even care what you said. Your QB bashing has gone on too long.

Some comments supporting Cutler:

Charles Barkley joined “Waddle & Silvy” on ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago, “I think it was inappropriate and wrong to question a guy's heart. Now reporters, they're going to do what they want to. They're entitled to their opinion. But as players, I don't think it's appropriate to question another guy's heart. That crosses the line, because you don't know. If you go back and start looking at all the stuff that's been said, and clearly one of the more vocal critics was Maurice Jones-Drew, and then you find out he missed the last two games with a bad knee. And he was really the first guy who crucified Jay. You have to be careful, because in the two most important games of the year, he sat out with a bad knee. And then it really makes him look like an idiot now."

LeBron James, “I've been in Jay Cutler's shoes. So I know how it feels to have people saying you, you know, wasn't up for the task. He'll be all right. He'll come back next year, when he gets healthy, and help his team win.”
Dwayne Wade, ““As a competitor, I want him to be in there. But obviously, if he wasn't in there, he couldn't go. You cannot question Jay Cutler's toughness. I'm not going to question his toughness. When a guy get sacked 53 times or whatever the number is, and gets back up -- and when you're playing quarterback, you're tough. It's one of the toughest positions to play.”

The Blackhawks chimed in too…

Brian Campbell, “True warriors know what guys do. The guy has been sacked and beaten on how many times in the last two years and a he keeps going about his business. Yeah, maybe he doesn’t talk the best in the media but that’s him. Everybody is different, not everybody is Peyton Manning. He goes out and gets his job done and that’s all you want. Guys aren’t the best at everything but he’s good at playing football. That’s what Bears fans should be pretty happy about.”

Patrick Kane, ““I feel bad for the guy to be honest with you because it seems the fans are kind of after him and everyone is ripping him. From what his teammates and coaches are saying you have to trust their instincts to keep him out of the game.”
